Delicious - An American Success Story
The Depression - while others sold apples, widowed Marie Hollnbacher made and sold popcorn to supplement her family’s income.
Marie and her two young sons, Victor and Frederic, operated a classic popcorn wagon, the picturesque kind you see in old movies, on the streets of Milwaukee. Under the name of American Popcorn Company, the two boys delivered five pound cans of popcorn to local taverns. When informed that the name was claimed by a large corporation, a kitchen table conference (of which there were many in order to run the company) came up with the apt name, ““Delicious.” In 1938, Vic and Fred cooked up the first of what would eventually be millions of batches of De-lish-us® Potato Chips.
